Self-reflection on Computer Education

My curiosity in studying Computer Education and its use made me motivated for exploring more about CE in the middle schools. I am not tired of reading students and their activities.  My own early childhood education and development opportunity in natural settings of rural home environment of  Khairenitar VDC Ward number 8, Khairenitar, Tanahun also enabled me to be curious about CE.  Seti River, sand yard, birds, domestic animals, flower garden, fruit farms, offices with computer facilities near my school and diverse community allowed me to construct learning opportunity as Jean Piaget and Vigotsky’s viewed in their terms maturation and contextual learning.  This helped me conclude that CE facilitators and parents should be reoriented to make holistic child development friendly.
I observed children from various perspectives which revealed multiple realities associated with them.  My qualitative knowledge helped me find out the similarities and dissimilarities of the children.  I searched for contextual environment with the studied children as well.  I found these children are curious to learn, short attentive, active, quick imitating person, cooperative, pure, and empathetic.  Here my conclusion is that both teachers and students were not using their abilities on CE for multidimensional approach.
It was observed that parent’s expectation for children was to find them as knowledgeable, competitive, and employable person in future.  But they were dependent on the teachers for making their children that way.  This means they valued school education more than informal education at home.  They also valued that children should be efficient in computer based activities.  This helped me conclude that we need to help children manage many more computer based activities as s/he could do so.
Teacher/facilitators were trained for the holistic development of the child.  But the parents were concerned more with the cognitive development of the child.  This had put teachers/facilitators in dilemma between the parent’s expectation and training they received to apply for CE class.  Here I conclude gaps like this should be explored and treat accordingly.  I was aware that the observed children were reared differently. Motivation of teachers/facilitators; parents and children have to be a part of CE  program implementation and regular monitoring and evaluation CE needs to done.  Teachers and facilitators from public schools also need to be involved in CE training. I conclude by saying that each CE facilitator/teacher should be trained to explore pedagogy of Computer Education according to demand of the era.
